Ein Airstream Wohnmobil wurde zur Quarantänestation für die heimkehrenden Astronauten umfunktioniert, nachdem sie aus ihrer Kapsel geborgen wurden. Sie mussten die ersten Tage nach ihrer Rückkehr in dieser mobilen Quarantänestation gemeinsam mit einem Arzt und einem Assistenten verbringen, um potenzielle Ansteckungsgefahr auszuschließen. Familienmitglieder wie auch der damalige Präsident Richard Nixon mussten mit ihnen durch Luftlöcher und Glasscheiben sprechen.
