Description
“Dr. Milkhot de Frahab” ist ein stark typisiertes Porträt, es erinnert an Darstellungen von Teufelsfratzen, nennt Echnaton, verweist auf Druiden und “Meese”. Dieser Darstellung sind weitere, aus anderen Kontexten entlehnte, Symbole an die Seite gestellt, wie ein lateinisches Kreuz und ein Eisernes Kreuz. Jonathan Messe schöpft seine Inspiration aus einer Art historisch-mythologischer Ursuppe. Historische Realitäten außer Acht lassend und scheinbar tiefenpsychologischen Phänomenen auf der Spur, schafft der Künstler surreale Bildwelten. Verso auf der Leinwand zwei übermalte (Porträt-)Fotos des Künstlers.
