Description
Nach Studienjahren in Hamburg, Prag und Antwerpen ließ Schlesinger sich 1852 in Düsseldorf nieder, wo einige Jahre zuvor sein Bruder Felix seine Ausbildung erhalten hatte. Sein Hauptinteresse galt der Darstellung von Landschaften, die er mit narrativer Staffage belebte. So zeigt auch das vorliegende Werk ein von Schlesinger favorisiertes Motiv, das ganz in der Tradition der Düsseldorfer Malerschule steht.
