Description
Die Kunst des Barock ist für Helmut Sturm zu Beginn der 1960er Jahre eine wichtige Inspirationsquelle und die Werke von Rubens in der Alten Pinakothek faszinieren ihn. Es ist vor allem die Darstellung von Körpern und Bewegung, die Sturm in seiner frühen Entwicklung beeinflussen. Das heftige Agieren der Figuren bei Rubens und die Art, wie er diese in Farbe auflöst, sind bildprägend in Sturms eigenen Kompositionen, wie sich an den Köpfen aus dieser Zeit ablesen lässt.
