Luisa, Marquise Casati Stampa di Soncino (1881-1957), war eine exzentrische italienische Erbin, Kunstmäzenin und Modeikone. Sie diente vielen Künstlern, darunter Man Ray und Umberto Boccioni, als Modell und galt als die “meistgemalte Frau Italiens”. Sie verstarb 1957 fast mittellos in London. Van Dongen zeigt seine Freundin hier als selbstbewusste, schöne Frau vor der Silhouette Venedigs. – In sehr gutem und farbfrischem Zustand.
