Mit seiner dramatisch konzentrierten, psychologisch erfüllten Darstellung der Heiligen, die der himmlischen Harmonie ihres Orgelspiels lauscht, steht Marinari ganz in der Tradition seines Cousins Carlo Dolci, dessen Typus der sehnsuchtsvoll aufblickenden Ausdrucksfigur im kleinen figürlichen Ausschnitt er hier aufgreift. Von dem Motiv existiert eine weitere eigenhändige Variation im Staten Museum for Kunst in Kopenhagen (Inv. Nr. KMSsp50).
