Description
Der Künstler ließ sich gegen Ende der 1890er Jahre in Paris nieder, wo er mit seinen dekorativ-impressionistischen Straßenbildern erfolgreich war. Gern schilderte er atmosphärische Phänome; hier ist die Straße noch regennass, so dass die modisch gekleideten Passantinnen ihre Röcke raffen, um die Säume vor der Feuchtigkeit zu schützen.
