Description
Porträt von Deborah Harry aus dem Jahr 1978, als ihr zusammen mit Blondie und dem Song “Denis” der Durchbruch gelungen ist. Auch Robert Mapplethorpe erlangte in dieser Zeit mit seinen Porträts von Persönlichkeiten wie Andy Warhol, Grace Jones oder Paloma Picasso immer größere Bekanntheit. Mapplethorpe porträtiert die Sängerin schlicht vor einem schwarzen Hintergrund. Debbie fixiert den Betrachter leicht trotzig, dabei wirkt sie verschlossen, unnahbar und dennoch sehr verletzlich. Mit größter Sensibilität entfaltet Mapplethorpe dieses Spannungsverhältnis, das sich in dem filigranen Totenköpfchen in Debbies Dekolleté widerzuspiegeln scheint. – Sehr guter Erhaltungszustand.
