Description
Die Darstellung folgt einer 1677 datierten Zeichnung Claude Lorrains (abgebildet in: Michael Kitson, Claude Lorrain: Liber Veritatis, London 1978, Kat.Nr. 196), die Bestandteil von dessen Liber Veritatis ist. Der unbekannte Künstler dürfte die Szene nach Richard Earloms gleichnamigem Stich kopiert haben. – Im Passepartoutausschnitt etwas gebräunt und im Randbereich geringfügig stockfleckig, sonst gut.
Provenienz: Sammlung Dr. Friedrich Schöne, Berlin, verso mit dem Stempel (nicht bei Lugt).
