Description
Die Sehnsucht nach Arkadien zieht sich wie ein roter Faden durch das Werk dieses Künstlers. Beeinflusst von Puvis de Chavannes und den Deutsch-Römern, malt er immer wieder jugendliche Figuren in idealer Landschaft. Die vorliegende Komposition weist ihn jedoch auch als subtilen Koloristen und Meister einer dekorativen, ornamental vereinfachenden Linie aus; gerade seine Pastelle erfreuten sich schon früh besonderer Beliebtheit. – Oberer Rand mit kleinen, fachmännisch restaurierten Mängeln, rechter Rand mit sehr kleinem Papierverlust, sonst von sehr schönem Gesamteindruck.
