Francis Wheatley, englischer Bildnismaler und Mitglied der Royal Academy, begann seine künstlerische Karriere als Miniaturmaler von anekdotischen Gesellschaftsszenen. Sein Motiv “Setting off to the Fair” wurde erstmals 1792 von Francis Eginton (1775-1823) graphisch reproduziert. – Die Oberfläche teils etwas zerkratzt und berieben; kleine Ausbrüche am Unterrand; verso drei hinterlegte Einrisse und Klebespuren alter Montage.
