Attributed to the Master of the Budapest Sketchbook. A Landscape with Farms and a Mill and Mountains in the Background. Pen and brown ink on brownish laid paper with watermark “shield with arabesque above”. C. 18 : 28.2 cm. Framed.

Zuschreibung.
Die Darstellung ähnelt mehreren Blättern einer Folge von Zeichnungen, die in Budapest aufbewahrt werden. Der unbekannte Künstler wurde nach diesen Blättern “Meister des Budapester Skizzenbuches” benannt und entstammt dem Umkreis der Frankenthaler Malerschule. Der Einfluss von Gillis van Coninxloo ist deutlich sichtbar. Gerszi datiert die Folge um ca. 1590. – Verso leicht fleckig und knitterfaltig. Mit kleinen Ausbesserungen und Nadellöchlein in den Ecken. Von schönem Gesamteindruck.
