Description
Eines der wenigen bekannten Gemälde des Kunsthistorikers Grohmann, ist diese Komposition eine Paraphrase auf Ernst Ludwig Kirchners gleichnamigen Holzschnitt aus dem Jahr 1914 (Dube 239) und damit eine Hommage an den Künstler, dessen zentrale Rolle im deutschen Expressionismus Grohmann früh erkannt hatte. Bereits in Dresden hatte er die Mitglieder der Künstlergruppe “Die Brücke” kennengelernt, 1925 erschien als erste seiner berühmten Künstlermonographien ein Band über die Zeichnungen Kirchners. – Sehr gut erhalten.
