Diese Arbeit ist im Archiv der Vereinigung “Les Amis de Louis Valtat”, Paris, registriert und mit einer Fotoexpertise von Julien Valtat versehen (Nr. 2811).
Blumenstillleben wie die vorliegende Arbeit prägen Valtats Oeuvre. Intensive, kräftige Farben werden von Valtat als Träger von subjektiven Erlebnissen und von gefühlsmäßigen Spannungen in seinem Bild eingesetzt. Als Fauvist bricht Valtat auch in dieser Arbeit mit einer objektiven, naturalistischen Darstellung von Blumen und hebt das Motiv ins Abstrakte. In diesem Werk verzichtet Valtat auf eine Grundierung, sodass das Holz als Bildträger zwischen den Farbflächen hervortritt. So entsteht ein fast schwebender Eindruck der Farben und Formen. – In sehr schönem Originalzustand.
