Für eine ganz ähnliche Version dieses Blicks auf den Watzmann siehe Hermann Reiner, “Otto Pippel”, Münchener Verlag, München 1948, mit farb. Abb. In dem vorliegenden Gemälde jedoch fügt Pippel diskret eine Figur in Rottönen bei dem Heuhaufen hinzu. Indem er jetzt einen Referenzpunkt setzt, gewinnt die Landschaft an Weite; der in fahles Herbstlicht getauchte Berg im Hintergrund wirkt monumentaler. – Sehr leichte Craquelébildung. Sehr wenige Retuschen, sonst in gutem Originalzustand.
