Description
Lilja Busse wuchs als Tochter deutscher Eltern in Russland auf. Als die Familie nach Ausbruch des Kriegs das Land 1914 verlassen musste, zog sie zunächst nach München und dann nach Berlin, wo sie ihre künstlerische Ausbildung bei Lovis Corinth, Willy Jaeckel und Eugen Spiro erfuhr. Das Jahr 1921, in dem der “Maskenball” entstand, markiert nach eigener Aussage das Ende ihrer Lehrzeit. Hier hat sie bereits ihren eigenen expressiven und farbstarken Stil gefunden. – In sehr gutem Originalzustand.
