Description
Die Weltumseglung der Fregatte “Novara” von 1857 bis 1859 war die wichtigste Forschungsreise der österreichischen Flotte im 19. Jahrhundert. Selleny schuf als Expeditionszeichner über 2000 Skizzen, auf deren Grundlage er in den folgenden Jahren zahlreiche bildhaft durchgestaltete Aquarelle wie das vorliegende, aber auch Ölgemälde komponierte. – Papier gebräunt und mit Bräunungsstreifen von altem Passepartout. Verso mit Montageresten.
