Description
Rückseitig auf einer angehefteten Leinwand hs. “Friedrich Kaulbach und seine erste Frau/gemalt v. Fried. Kaulbach. Frau Maria Kaulbach im August 1909”. Laut dieser Beschreibung müsste es sich bei der Dargestellten um Kaulbachs Gattin Mathilde, geb. Knosp, handeln (1818-1852). Damit dürfte die vorliegende Ölskizze zwischen 1848, dem Jahr der Eheschließung, und 1852 entstanden sein. – Vereinzelt kleine Retuschen; Leinwand doubliert.
