Allegory on the beneficial reign of a monarch. Pen and brown ink, brown and greyish wash on wove paper with watermark “Lily”. C. 33.5 : 29.5 cm.
Description
Locker und frei ausgeführte, barocke Figurenallegorie mit Minerva und Fortitudo auf einer Wolkenbank, umgeben von Herkules, Fama, Cybele und Putten, wohl der Entwurf für ein Deckenfresko. Alt an den oberen Ecken auf ein festes Büttenpapier mit Wz. “3 Halbmonde mit dem Schriftzug IMPERIAL” montiert. Alte Zuschreibung an Le Grand auf der Unterlage. Etwas fleckig und gebräunt entlang der Kanten, mit kleinen Einrissen und Papierausdünnungen am linken Rand und einigen Knitterfalten im Randbereich.
