In “Zähneknirschen” zeigt sich noch einmal Prems alter Widerspruchsgeist. Auch die Farbigkeit knüpft in ihrer Lebhaftigkeit an frühere Werkperioden an. Die beiden dargestellten Personen sind während einer Kampfhandlung gezeigt, andererseits sind sie – formal gesehen – mit einem fast geschlossenen Kreisbogen umfangen, der sie zu einer harmonischen Einheit zusammenschließt. Wenige winzige Farbabsplitterungen.
