“Lunar. Composition No. 11”. Egg-Tempera and pencil on cardbord. (19)41-43. C. 100.5 : 72.5 cm. Signed and dated lower right. Verso signed, dated and inscribed with the title lower right. Framed.
Delicate colouring and swinging lines melt into an intensive impression. The artist created this beautiful and expressive composition before the devasting bombing in 1945, when the main part of his oeuvre was destroyed in his studio in Potsdam.

Zarte Pastelltöne, schwungvolle Linien und kräftige Rot- und Blautöne verschmelzen hier zu einem intensiven Farberlebnis. Sehr ausdrucksstarke Bildkomposition aus der Zeit vor dem verheerenden Bombenangriff 1945 auf das Potsdamer Atelier des Künstlers, bei dem ein Großteil seines Lebenswerkes zerstört wurde. Karton leicht gewellt, im Farbauftrag und an den Rändern minimal berieben. Kleiner Einriss in der linken Bildhälfte, verso geklebt. An den Kanten etwas brüchig, ein winziges Stück der linken unteren Ecke fehlt. Verso farbfleckig, mit Resten alter Montage. Insgesamt von sehr schönem Gesamteindruck.
