Zinnias. Oil on creamcoloured laid paper from “INGRES”, with the watermark upper right and lower left. (19)41. C. 64.5 : 48 cm. Signed with the monogram and inscribed with the worknumber “56/41” lower left. With the estate stamp, the inventory number “2/7” and the repeated worknumber “56/41” on the reverse.
In the privacy of her house in Murnau, Gabriele Münter’s love to her flower garden helped herself to surmount hard times and the deprivations of war.
Description
In der Zurückgezogenheit ihres Murnauer Hauses half Gabriele Münter die Liebe zu ihrem Garten und den dort vorgefundenen Blumen durch die entbehrungsreichen Kriegsjahre. Die vorliegende Arbeit wurde von Gabriele Münter als Nummer 59 des Jahres 1941 in ihrem Arbeitsheft verzeichnet. Spontan und lebendig arrangiert sie hier hochgewachsene Zinnien und lässt satte Farben den schweren Zeiten trotzen.
Mit einem braunen Farbfleckchen am Oberrand; der Randbereich vereinzelt minimal knitterfaltig; das rückseitige Etikett nach vorne, die Ölfarben verso etwas durchfettend. Insgesamt von sehr gutem Gesamteindruck.
