Description
Das monumentale Löwendenkmal wurde 1821 nach einem Modell von B. Thorvaldsen direkt in die Wand eines früheren Sandsteinbruches gehauen und erinnert an den Untergang der Schweizer Garde beim Sturm auf die Tuilerien 1792. Corrodi lässt die letzten Sonnenstrahlen des Tages auf den Löwen fallen und erhöht so die Dramatik des Werkes. Auf Papier aufgelegt. In den Zierrändern etwas fleckig und berieben, sonst in altersgemäß sehr gutem Zustand.
