A landscape with lake and two travellers. Oil on panel. Ca. 19 : 23.5 cm. Signed with the monogram lower centre. Framed.
A finely executed painting with a written authentification by Helmut Börsch-Supan, who points out that there are two similarly “wild” landscapes in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg.
Description
Fein ausgeführte Landschaft, die das Auge zunächst zum markanten Bildstock und dann über die spiegelnde Wasserfläche zu dem schneebedeckten Berg im Hintergrund führt. Anregungen für seine Landschaften hatte Brinckmann vor allem auf einer Studienreise in die Schweiz gesammelt. Prof. Dr. Helmut Börsch-Supan schreibt zu der vorliegenden Arbeit: “Das kleine Bild stammt zweifelsfrei von Philipp Hieronymus Brinckmann. Zwei in ihrer Wildheit vergleichbare Landschaften befinden sich in der Eremitage in St. Petersburg.(…)”. Mit kleinen Retuschen, vor allem im Bereich des Himmels, sonst gut erhalten.
