Idyllische Landschaft mit meditativer Stimmung und reizvollen Lichteffekten, die von der Auseinandersetzung des aus Devon stammenden Malers mit der niederländischen Kunst zeugt. In der fein lasierenden Malweise der atmosphärischen Phänomene zeigt sich das Können des Künstlers ebenso wie im dichteren, materialbetonteren Auftrag des Vordergrundes. Die Leinwand ist auf Malkarton aufgelegt. Im Randbereich mit kleineren Retuschen, ansonsten in gutem Zustand.
