Description
Einfühlsames Portrait, das den Heiligen als tief in seine Gedanken versunkenen Grübler zeigt. In der Rechten hält er sein Attribut, das Schwert. Es bezieht sich einerseits auf seinen Märtyrertod, andererseits auf eine Textstelle des Epheserbriefes, in dem er schrieb “Und nehmet Euch (…) das Schwert des Geistes, welches das Wort Gottes ist!” (Kapitel 6, Vers 17). Mit kleineren Bereibungen, vor allem an den Bildrändern. Alt doubliert. Gefirnisst.
