Studied art history, early Christian and Byzantine art history and German and comparative folklore at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. Studied conservation and restoration of works of art on paper at Camberwell College of Arts in London. Head of the Department of Graphic Restoration at the Germanisches Nationalmuseum in Nuremberg. Various restoration projects in Munich, including at the Bavarian National Museum and Bavarian Main State Archives. Reviewer of the professional journal Restauro. Since 2009 Head of Old Masters at Karl & Faber, from 2019 Head of Old Masters and 19th Century Art.
