Descrizione

Excellent, clear and effective impression, with the number and the Bible verse at the bottom right. The engraving was made by an anonymous 17th century engraver and published by the Amsterdam printer Claes Jansz. II Visscher. The work is based on Bruegel’s 1568 painting “The Fall of the Blind”, which is now in the collection of the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples. With a wide margin around the platemark on three sides, trimmed to this at the top. – Isolated brown stains. The lower margin with closed tears and a crease outside the image. The left edge with fine laid paper margin. Slightly darkened along the edges, otherwise in good condition. Very rare!

Ferrando Bertelli (active around 1561-1571), Christ heals the sick. Copperplate engraving after Paolo Farinati on laid paper. (1566). 32.5 x 51 cm (Sheet size). Bertelli was a book and print publisher in Venice, he shared his workshop with Donato Bertelli. Bertelli published prints after Titian, Farinati, Giulio Romano, Battista Angelo del Moro and Albrecht Dürer.
