Good, strong impression in eight colours depicting the vaudeville dancer Mademoiselle Lender, who appeared in the operettas popular in Paris at the end of the 19th century. One of her performances – the operetta revue “Chilperic” – was especially remembered because it inspired Toulouse-Lautrec to create a painting and six lithographs. The most beautiful sheet in this series is the portrait of Marcelle Lender, printed in eight colours, as she, dressed in a fanciful Spanish costume, receives an ovation from the audience. The lithograph was published in 1895 in an edition of 1211 prints in the first year of the magazine “Pan”, one of the leading German-language magazines for art and culture, which saw itself as the mouthpiece of numerous artists and intellectuals who opposed the conservative art and cultural policies of the imperial era.
