Descrizione
Very fine, warm-toned early impression printed before the plate was wiped clean, legs and coat printed with tone, before the scratches through the white sleeve. With a fine margin around the edge. Dürer created several depictions of this saint, who had enjoyed great popularity since the 13th century. He was the patron saint of sailors, carters and travelers and protected all those who died a sudden death without first receiving the sacraments. – A small missing spot on the upper right edge. A careful repair on the lower right edge. The bottom left and top corners backed. The margin partially overpainted at the top, otherwise in good condition.
