Excellent print, somewhat dry in the left margin, which suggests that it was created around 1600 due to the watermark. With the crack in the wooden block on the right and the Dürer monogram at the bottom center. The woodcut is one of the artist’s early works, which was entirely dominated by Dürer’s influence. The woodcut was formerly attributed to Dürer (see Bartsch App. 26, 27). It was only in the 17th century that the Nuremberg art dealer Johann Hauer recognized in his comments on Dürer’s prints that the depiction could be attributed to Sebald Beham. – Paper yellowed evenly and with some foxing. Horizontal and vertical creases as well as partially closed tears around the edges. Remnants of a former mount on the reverse. In good overall condition.
