Pablo Picasso

Nature morte aux poires et au pichet

Published by Atelier Crommelynck, Paris, with blind stamp.
Provenance: private ownership, Southern Germany.

The work is based on a painting from 1936. Picasso’s collaboration with the printer Crommelynck inspired him to spend years intensively exploring the subject of etching himself; he was a constant guest in his studio. As a result, no other printer would have been considered when it came to transfer some of Picasso’s most important paintings into etchings. It can be assumed that the artist took a lively interest in the creation of these sheets.
