Description

Prachtvoller, kontrastreicher und klarer Abzug mit Grat in der Draperie und im Baumstamm. Papier mit dem Wz. “Anker im Kreis” wie von Meder für einen frühen Abzug gewünscht. Vor dem kurzen Kratzer über die Stirn des Kindes und einem feinen Rändchen um die Plattenkante. Dürer setzt das Geschehen in eine italienische Landschaft. Birne und Apfel gelten als Mariensymbol. Seit 1503 ist es die erste Darstellung von “Mutter und Kind”, die nächste folgt erst 1514. Diese reizvolle Komposition trug wesentlich zum Ruhm Dürers als führender Kupferstecher seiner Zeit bei. – Minimale, unauffällige Papierbereibung an der unteren Kante, ansonsten in sehr guter Erhaltung.
