Udo Peters beginnt seine künstlerische Laufbahn als Porträtmaler, ehe er die Landschaft für sich als Motiv entdeckt und in seinem ganz persönlichen, aus Elementen des Expressionismus und des Impressionismus geformtem Stil ein umfassendes Œuvre schafft. Die Künstlerkolonie Worpswede, wo er sich ab 1908 niederlässt, nimmt hier eine besondere Rolle ein.
