Description
Vorstudie zu dem Gemälde “Cimabue und der junge Giotto”, entstanden 1841, Neue Pinakothek München (Inv.-Nr. WAF 1218). Der Legende nach soll der Maler Cimabue auf den jungen Giotto aufmerksam geworden sein, als dieser beim Schafehüten eines seiner Tiere naturgetreu mit einem spitzen Stein auf eine glatte Felsplatte zeichnete. Cimabue soll daraufhin Giotto als Lerhrling in seiner Florentiner Werkstatt aufgenommen haben. – Kleinere Griffknicke an den Kanten, im unteren Rand mit Heftlöchern. Die obere Kante etwas ungleich geschnitten, ansonsten in gutem Zustand.
