Es handelt sich um die Ruinen eines von Kaiser Alexander Severus 226 n.Chr. als einer der Endpunkte der Acqua Marcia angelegten Brunnens, der seit dem Mittelalter Trofei di Mario genannt wurde. Die malerische Ruine wurde von zahlreichen Künstlers visualisiert. G.B. Piranesi schuf die bekannteste Darstellung (in: Varie Vedute di Roma Antica e Moderna). – Alt aufgezogen, insgesamt schwach gebräunt und leicht braunfleckig, ansonsten schön.
