Description

Mit seiner dramatisch konzentrierten, psychologisch erfüllten Darstellung der Heiligen, die der himmlischen Harmonie ihres Orgelspiels lauscht, steht Marinari ganz in der Tradition seines Cousins Carlo Dolci, dessen Typus der sehnsuchtsvoll aufblickenden Ausdrucksfigur im kleinen figürlichen Ausschnitt er hier aufgreift. Von dem Motiv existiert eine weitere eigenhändige Variation im Statens Museum for Kunst in Kopenhagen (Inv. Nr. KMSsp50).

Dr. Francesca Baldassari hat auf Grundlage eines digitalen Fotos das Gemälde als eigenhändige Arbeit Onorio Marinari zugeschrieben, wofür wir danken (E-mail vom 18.1.2013).
