Description
Ausgeführt in La Varenne 1939. In einem Brief an seinen amerikanischen Galeristen Erich Cohn erwähnt Kleinschmidt am 26.10.1939, dass das Gemälde bereits unterwegs nach New York sei. Es wurde direkt von Cohn angekauft, ebenso wie viele weitere Frankreich-Motive. Auf Anregung Cohns reist Kleinschmidt mehrfach nach Frankreich und lässt sich im September 1938 in La Varenne bei Paris nieder, nachdem er 1936 aus Deutschland emigriert war und zunächst in der Schweiz und Holland lebte.
