The gods on Mount Olympus
Description
Entwurf für ein Deckenbild. Am rechten Bildrand ist Minerva zu sehen, vor ihr sitzt wahrscheinlich die Personifikation einer Stadt oder der Erde (Cybele). In der Ebene darüber thronen oder stehen Neptun, Venus, Apoll, Bacchus, Merkus, Jupiter und vielleicht Saturn. Rechts unten bewegt sich die Personifikation der Zeit aus dem Bild heraus. Dass dies bei Eintritt Minervas, der Göttin der Weisheit, geschieht, könnte ein Hinweis darauf sein, dass es sich bei der Darstellung um eine Allegorie der Weisheit handelt.
