Plaster, coloured with shellac. (After 1921). C. 17 x 12.5 x 7.5 cm (without wooden base). One of only 5 known casts. With the engraved signature at the lateral.
We are thankful to Mrs. Franziska Hell, Ernst Barlach Stiftung Güstow, for the information she has kindly provided for cataloguing this lot. Aside of the casts, mentioned listed by Lauer, there are currently another two casts known by the Ernst Barlach Stiftung. According to Franziska Hell the incised signature could also have been added later by a foreign hand.

Description

Neben den drei bei Laur aufgeführten Exemplaren sind
der Ernst Barlach Stiftung inzwischen zwei weitere Exemplare bekannt. Die eingeritzte Signatur könnte laut Frau Hell auch nachträglich von fremder Hand hinzugefügt worden sein. – Auf Holzsockel geschraubt. Mit minimalen Gebrauchspuren. Kopf des Mannes fachmännisch restauriert und retuschiert. Sonst gut.
