Description
Entwurf Légers zu einem monumentalen Fassadenbild am “City of Light”-Gebäude der Consolidatet Edison Company auf der New Yorker Weltausstellung von 1939, der später verworfen wurde. Den Auftrag erhielt Leger auf Empfehlung von Nelson Rockefeller jun. Im Zuge des Abbruchs des Pavillons nach der Ausstellung wurde das Wandbild zerstört – von den etwa ein Duzend farbigen Entwürfen Légers erhielten sich nur einige wenige. – Mit papierbedingten Knitterspuren und einem 1 cm langen Einriss am rechten Rand sowie kleinen Randmängeln. Von schönem, farbfrischem Gesamteindruck.
