Description

Vorliegendes Gemälde stellt nach Bert Schepers eine wertvolle Bereicherung für das Oeuvre des aus einer alten Antwerpener Künstlerfamilie stammenden Künstlers dar und war der Forschung bislang nicht bekannt. Pauwel Casteels war für seine Darstellungen von Bacchanalien und Triumphzügen von Meeresgottheiten sowie für seine Szenen aus dem Alten Testament bekannt.

Wir danken Dr. Bert Schepers, Rubenianum, Antwerpen, für die Identifizierung des Künstlers und wertvolle Hinweise zur Katalogisierung auf Grundlage einer hochauflösenden Fotografie.
