Description
Wuttkes pittoreske Ansicht im aufgehenden Sonnenlicht zeigt den Blick auf die mächtigen Tempel von Karnak, die wohl größte, ein paar Kilometer nördlich von Luxor direkt am Nil gelegene Tempelanlage Ägyptens. Wuttkes Stimmungsbild ist Ausdruck der allgemeinen Orientfaszination, die auch Deutschland Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts erfasst hatte. Wuttke schuf von der Ansicht mehrere Versionen (Dorotheum Salzburg, 28.11.2001, Los 130; Kastern Hannover, 4.12.2010, Los 524).
