Description
Das kleine Gemälde von hoher malerischer Qualität war ehemals Johann Wilhelm Schirmer zugeschrieben, doch ist dessen Autorschaft auszuschließen (Email vom 14.3.2016 von Marcell Perse, Jülich). Zwar existieren ähnliche Ansichten von ihm mit St. Peter (Kunstsammlungen zu Weimar, Inv. G 1211), sie sind allerdings insgesamt skizzenhafter und nahsichtiger angelegt. Perse möchte als Autor August Wilhelm Schirmer nicht ausschließen; auch von August Wilhelm Ahlborn sind ähnliche Ansichten bekannt, für dessen Autorschaft die insgesamt etwas kompaktere Malweise und die topographische Treue sprechen könnten.
