Description

Die Darstellung folgt weitgehend einem Kupferstich des Lucas van Leyden aus dem Jahr 1524 (The New Hollstein, 155). Doch anders als in der Vorlage belebt der niederländische Künstler mit feinem, strichelnden Duktus die Natur: Botanisch exakt bestimmbare Pflanzen sprießen aus dem Boden, Vögel und Schmetterlinge bevölkern die Szenerie, die Bäume sind belaubt und tragen Äpfel. Nicht in einer winterlichen Landschaft wie bei van Leyden, sondern im Sommer wird musiziert.
