Zu den Rolling Stones entwickelte Warhol ab 1969 eine enge Beziehung. Mitte der 70er Jahre entstanden die künstlerischen Entwürfe zum Album-Cover von “Love You Live”, das 1977 bei Virgin Records erschien. In dem vorliegenden Blatt porträtiert Warhol Mick Jagger, androgyne Ikone und Inbegriff des damaligen Zeitgeistes, mit wenigen, treffsicheren Strichen.
Für seine Porträtzeichnungen machte Warhol zunächst Polaroidfotos, die er anschließend mit dem Overheadprojektor an die Wand projizierte. Mit einem Graphitstift zog er dann die prägnanten Umrisslinien nach. Mit einer Echtheitsbestätigung der “Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts”, New York. – In sehr gutem Zustand.
