Als Sohn eines Veroneser Architekten und Theatermalers war Canella selbst bereits im Alter von vierzehn Jahren als Maler öffentlich registriert. Besonders seine belebten und häufig in anekdotisch-detailliertem Kleinformat ausgeführten Stadtansichten galten schon zu seinen Lebzeiten als begehrte Sammelobjekte. – Im Bereich der Rahmung teils etwas bestoßen, sonst sehr gut und farbfrisch erhalten.
