Der Künstler dürfte aus dem Umkreis Jan Frans van Bloemens, gen. Orizzonte, stammen. Mit seiner Komposition einer klassischen, in warmes Abendlicht getauchten Landschaft steht er aber letztlich in einer Tradition, die von Claude Lorrain über A. Carracci auf Tizian und Bassano zurückgeht.
