Nach dem Studium an der Akademie in Krakau setzte Gottlieb seine Ausbildung an der Malschule von Anton Azbé in München fort; dort könnte das vorliegende Werk entstanden sein. Mit seiner subtilen Farbigkeit und dem schönen Materialcharakter zeigt es die charakteristische Balance des Künstlers zwischen Andeutung und anatomischer Genauigkeit. – Mit Einfassungslinie.
