Ausgezeichneter, gleichmäßig druckender Abzug des zweiten Zustandes mit dem feinen Kratzer über dem Daumen des Kindes. Winzinger zählt diesen Kupferstich zu den hervorragendsten Arbeiten Altdorfers. Die helle Sonnenscheibe, deren sprühende Strahlenbündel den ganzen Raum umspannen, ist eine Erfindung Wolf Hubers. – Mit einem schmalen Rändchen um die Einfassung. In sehr gutem Zustand.
Provenienz: Aus der Sammlung des Kestner-Museums Hannover, verso mit dem Stempel (Lugt 1569). Privatsammlung, Schweiz.
